Water Pressure Sensor and Screw-Lock Structure
Since the release of the AQUALAND Depth Meter in 1985, PROMASTER diver's watches with depth gauges have placed the 'water pressure sensor' at the 9 o'clock position, making it an icon of the series. While considering the overall silver and black color balance of the watch, this icon is further accentuated. In addition, a guard is provided around the sensor part for protection, and 'Duratect DLC,' which is hard and highly scratch-resistant, is applied.
Diver's watches often use a 'screw-lock crown' to prevent malfunctions underwater. In this model, a 'screw-lock push button' is also adopted. Like the water pressure sensor, 'Duratect DLC,' which is hard and highly scratch-resistant, is applied.
Luminescence Color Differentiation
The dial and hands are designed to ensure legibility in the dark, even when many hands overlap. The luminescence color for the time display system (hour, minute, second hands + indexes) is green, while the luminescence color for the depth display system (current depth + maximum depth) is blue, making it less likely to be misread underwater. Also, CITIZEN watches use highly safe luminescent paint that does not contain radioactive substances.
Usability
As the name suggests, a diver's watch is a watch that can be used while diving. Therefore, it is assumed to be worn over a wetsuit or dry suit. However, considering actual usage situations, most of the time is spent during marine leisure, outdoor activities, or everyday life. Therefore, an 'extension band' that is easy to put on and take off is included, allowing for comfortable wear both during diving and daily use.
Simplicity in Much Information
In addition to displaying the 'current time' as a watch, the 'water detection sensor' and 'water pressure sensor' react underwater, and the 'depth hand' at the 3 o'clock position indicates the current depth. The 3 o'clock position serves as the base point (0m), expressing the image of gradually diving from the surface (horizontal = sea level) downward. Depth can be measured up to 70m. The indicator ring displays depth, with larger intervals for the 0–40m range (recreational diving range) and smaller intervals for the 40–70m range, improving legibility. A 'maximum depth hand' is also included, allowing you to check how deep you have dived even after surfacing. In addition, the sub dial at the 9 o'clock position allows you to check the charge level before diving.
The movement installed is analog, yet it is equipped with many functions. Therefore, to prevent information congestion on the dial, graphical elements are minimized, and information is organized with only essential text and color differentiation of luminescence and printing. We hope you will experience its true value by actually wearing it while diving.
2018 Good Design Award Winner Evaluation Comments
As a diver's watch with high functionality and design, and as a well-crafted tool, it was highly evaluated among the judges. The thick, machined bezel that can be operated even while wearing gloves, the high legibility of the dial and hands backed by underwater experiments, the crown locking mechanism, and the light-powered drive. The trust born from the pursuit of such high functionality is carefully brought together in the design. As an item that symbolizes one's style and way of thinking, it will surely gain the support of many users.
