Ideas Born from Imagination

In April 2024, I participated in "Neuron Tokyo vol.2," held at the Asakusa Mokubatei, a traditional vaudeville theater in Taito-ku, Tokyo. "Neuron Tokyo" is a design event organized by AXIS & TD that began in 2023 as a place for networking and co-creation among people involved in design and related fields. At each event, about ten companies' design departments give presentations based on a common theme. Here, I will introduce an overview of the presentation we gave at this event.

Turning Point

In the Design Department, we held an activity called the 'Good Things Sharing Meeting.' Each participant selects one 'good thing' of their own based on a theme, shares its appeal, and exchanges opinions with other members. The first theme was 'Designs That Moved Us Emotionally.' I chose the 'Yamaha Wind MIDI Controller WX7.'

Irrésistiblement

CITIZEN has been running a collaborative class teaching watch design at Musashino Art University since 2023. What set it in motion was an invitation from my mentor, Professor Keita Tanaka. As a student, I was influenced by industry–academia collaboration projects. I had always thought it would be wonderful if one day we could run a class with CITIZEN and Musashino Art University, so I was truly delighted when I received this message.
