Balancing Functionality and Styling
In reality, many people buy a diver's watch for everyday use even if they don’t actually go diving. Conversely, if a watch has decent water resistance, there’s a risk that people might go straight into the water with it (even if it isn’t a diver's watch). For this model—used for diving, a sport where lives are at stake—the utmost emphasis is placed on the critical aspects of safety and legibility, and to prevent accidental operation it employs a locking mechanism not only on the crown but also on the push buttons. It also focuses on how to deliver numerous functions—such as elapsed time, current depth, maximum depth, and charge level—while ensuring legibility, and on creating a design that avoids overindulging in trends so that users won’t tire of it and can enjoy it for years. Winner of a Good Design Award in 2018.
