Shinka (Evolution, Novel Evolution, and Deepening)

Building on the concept of the SATELLITE WAVE H990 (2011) and advancing its design through shinka—evolution, novel evolution, and deepening—we set out to create a design that surpasses the original model. By integrating three transparent disc hands at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions with the dial, we express both the sensation that part of the dial itself is moving and the playful appeal of motion. Beyond the clearly visible design differences from the original—such as the case, push button, and the dial’s wheel parts—we have also refined numerous details including subtle shapes, finishes, and materials. Winner of the 2018 Chicago Good Design Award.
