Bringing a 50-year-old original design into the present
In 1973, about 50 years ago—the year CITIZEN released its first quartz watch—the “CITIZEN Quartz E·F·A,” which achieved a precision of within ±5 seconds per month, was launched. This model draws inspiration from that original design. Viewing the originality-rich design as a CITIZEN asset to be leveraged, we reinterpret its character as part of our ongoing effort to solidify what makes CITIZEN uniquely CITIZEN. The shape of the metal band’s end piece is a form born from trial and error to smoothly connect two entirely different surfaces: the mountain-cut plane with a ridge running through the center of the case, and the band’s cylindrical surface, and it is also a key design point of the model. Winner of the Good Design Award (Chicago).
