Visualizing the “power of light”

Light-powered watch technology once felt constrained, carrying an impression of being “passive”. To counter this, we set out to visualize the outgoing, expressive power of a watch as a tool that delivers time. Taking the theme of “a nighttime city shimmering with beams of light,” the dial combines three-dimensional indexes with a separate metallic ring for the sub-dial, expressing varying intensities of light together with the base’s radial pattern. The case captures the interplay of light and shadow through multi-faceted cuts, created by boldly trimming the upper surface of the lugs, giving the watch both an expansive impression and a powerful brilliance. Additionally, printing the logo and chapter markings directly onto the sapphire glass produces an unprecedented sense of depth and floating, resulting in a design that embodies the “power of light” as its energy source.
